Company Vessel
Company Vessel
A collaboration between Nellie Peoples and Sam Tomkins, for Fusion: the art of eating, as a part of DESIGN Canberra 2014. The goal of the annual fundraiser for Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre was to serve the finest local produce on quality designed and created objects. The brief for the Company vessels was for palm-sized vessels suitable for an entrée. The vessels were developed from the notion that objects play an important role in bringing people together.
The vessel was an exploration of possibilities of a new food utensil. A ritual based product that questioned and investigated what happens beyond the food at these gatherings. The vessel’s design evolved from the desire for beholders of the object to have the ability to greet each other whilst holding the vessel. When not held the vessels are designed to tessellate, to come together like those who surround it.
Object awarded finalist in Vogue Living Alessi Design Prize, Emerging Designer, 2015. Design + Craft Outstanding Single Practitioner, Design Canberra Festival, Australia, 2014.
